What is DNCOE?

About Del Norte County Office of Education

Del Norte County Office of Education provides countywide leadership, oversight, and specialized services that support education across Del Norte County. As a single-district county, Del Norte has a unique educational structure in which DNCOE and Del Norte Unified School District serve the same geographic area while carrying distinct responsibilities. DNCOE works alongside DNUSD, charter schools, county-operated programs, staff, families, and community partners to help students succeed.

DNCOE supports a wide range of educational and operational services, including countywide programs, charter school oversight, technology, professional learning, student support, fiscal and administrative services, and public accountability. We are also helping advance the work of single-district counties by collaborating with the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, the California Department of Education, and the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team to strengthen systems, clarify roles, and identify effective approaches that can support communities with similar structures.

Through this work, DNCOE helps build stronger partnerships, improve coordination, and expand the resources available to students and schools. Together with our educational and community partners, we are committed to preparing students for college, career, and life by supporting learning environments that build self-awareness, self-sufficiency, self-discipline, technical literacy, communication, collaboration, integrity, and community engagement.

DNCOE and DNUSD work closely together, but they are separate public education agencies. DNUSD operates local public schools, while DNCOE provides countywide leadership, oversight, and specialized services.
