Del Norte Students Bring Poetry to Life

Students from Del Norte High School and Sunset High School delivered outstanding performances at the county’s Poetry Out Loud competition, showcasing both talent and confidence as they brought poetry to life on stage. The event highlighted the power of student voice and the impact of the arts in education.
Congratulations to Bria Larson from Del Norte High School, who earned first place, and Kenneth Halls from Sunset High School, who placed second at the county level. Their performances stood out in a strong field of competitors.
Bria went on to represent Del Norte County at the Poetry Out Loud State Championship in Sacramento, performing on the floor of the California State Senate chamber—an incredible opportunity and achievement.
A special thank-you to DNACA for hosting the event, to the staff who supported and prepared students, and most importantly, to every student who stepped up to the microphone. Your voices and performances made this year’s event truly memorable.
